I grew up in SoMD and will be moving back for a little while in the next month or so.
Just trying to check out the car/racing scene here. I know SoMD has built up alot since I left in 1993.
1987 Porsche 944 Turbo (951) with some bolt ons.
Welcome man... enjoy the sunny weather down in sunny otown ;)

Whats up dude, I see that you made it on the site. What bolt-ons do you have again, it's been awhile since my last Rennlisting......
I'm still irritated that there's another 951 around now that my car is gone :-(

Hey Silverbullitt! Actually, I found a few other Porsche guys and one other 951 in Hollywood.
I have seen some modified imports but only a few here and there.

FYI for people with 4x4 pickups... If you wanna make some quick cash goto the big Aarons parking lot. When I had my Bronco2 I made 50 bucks pulling 2wd trucks out of there.

because you do stupid things and get caught doing them.... plenty of cool ass cops... people tend to hate the cops that bust them with drugs or doing stupid shit... yet whose fault is it anyways....
po po have cut me a lot of slack in recent events so I can't say anything.

Yea, wet/ice is no good, but you have no idea how excited people would get in FL whenever it was cold out so their cars (mostly only forced induction) would run so much better.
COLD = HP!!! :tongue1:
Of course I just have to turn my fuel up a bit.

I have NEVER seen so many cops around. Even back when I lived here back in the day there did not seem to be so many cops around. And they always seem to have people pulled over also.
Puts a damper on all the winding roads and so few traffic lights and almost no traffic.
Yea, what you all consider traffic up here is nothing!! lol

Hot air actually affects NA cars more. I would trap up to 7 MPH lower in the 100 degree heat...

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. Forced induction cars are much more affected by temp changes than NA. There is an old saying from turbo race car drivers back in the day:
"If we tune for a cloudy day and the sun breaks out we have to turn down the boost" lol

Actually I have been doing a lot of research lately in your world; Ford.
My MAF is about maxing out so I have been looking into the Ford Lightning 90mm MAF swap. Looks like I can pull it off, just trying to find someone that can offer the flow chart of the MAF to help in tuning.
Also, do you know how hard it would be to find a used MAF plug/connector from the Lighting locally at a junk yard?

What size do you currently have? I think I still have my stock 85 MM Mach 1 MAF...
I'm running a 95 MM now

My current MAF is 75mm. But the radius is not so much the issue as the calibration for the hp/flow it can handle. Maxes out about 350whp. I was reading the 90mm Lightning/Cobra MAF is good up to 500whp+
How much hp/flow does the stock Mach MAF handle?

MAF whats that? haha
Neon runs off of a MAP and IMO is easier to work with.

Yea, a lot of guys I have talked to went with MAP. But with the ECU of my car there is a lot of extra work that needs to be done to switch over or go stand alone.

Yea with a MAP you just have to use a voltage map

I pegged the stocker around 425 RWHP. The new one should hold me up to my 700 RWHP number I'm looking at.

Are there any dyno shops or mobile dynos close by?
Any dyno days??
Kohburn
01-29-2008, 04:44 PM
I was looking at using a greddy e-manage on my last project car - its a piggy back but it can also convert a maf car to map. imo maf is easier to tune but maf sensors are expensive and finicky. map systems are typicly more reliable.
ask ron if they're doing anymore dyno days at Pro-Motion
Or just contact someone from pro-motiontuning.com they're in VA though. Otherwise I can only point you to Mustang shops LOL

Tempest Racing in mechanicsville has an in shop dyno. if customx ever gets on here you can ask him what they have to offer. they might even be in the phone book. they do alot of import tuning.

Yea, I figured any dyno's would not be real local. Mechanicsville isn't to bad.
Dyno days are good for when weather is bad during winter as most are in shops and under cover, etc. It's a good way to have a get together even with bad weather.
MAF:
Yea, I have an ancient ARC2 for my piggy back. It will get you about 90% tuned. At least enough to run the dyno/wideband runs and then send those to get a chip burned for 100% tune.
Well, if you buy a new MAF from some tuner shop that has it all tuned for your car then you will pay a lot; 250$ or more. But if you have some piggy back and get a good used one, like I did, you can get some good MAF's for under $100.
